The spontaneous art of composition . . .
The more I look, the more I zoom in with my lens to look closer, the more I see art everywhere. There's something creative about taking the time to look very closely at the ordinary, at the objects that normally swish by our eyes, especially when we are driving someplace. The camera makes me stop. I zoom in and shoot. I don't really know what I've got until I come home and download the pictures. Most of the time I do some cropping, some color correction, but the image above of a close-up of a lamppost on the Mass Ave bridge complete with layers of paint, old torn down flyers and posters is exactly what the camera caught and I didn't change a thing.
